Obesity and survival in critically ill patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome: a paradox within the paradox
Obesity is associated with an increased risk of death in the general population, but in specific disease conditions a decrease in mortality has been reported. The obesity paradox in acute respiratory distress syndrome patients has been investigated in two recent meta-analyses. In this Editorial, Lorenzo Ball et al. examine the findings of these studies.
